Constructing "60m height difference test tower" for multi air conditioning system for buildings (VRF) on the premise of Kawasaki Head Office

In order to further strengthen the product development power of large-size air conditioners, our company will construct a "60m height difference test tower" for multi air conditioning system for buildings (VRF) on the site adjacent to the Air Conditioner R&D Center which was built on the premise of Kawasaki Head Office last October. The final completion of the construction will be in October this year.

The "60m height difference test tower" is to be constructed as a facility to make actual operation test under the condition of big height difference between outdoor units and indoor units required for multi air conditioning system for buildings (VRF). The total cost for construction will be about 330 million yen.

In the multi air conditioning system for buildings (VRF), the complicated control of refrigerant is required as the height difference between outdoor units and indoor units is big and also the length of piping is long.

The "60m height difference test tower" will be constructed on the site adjacent to the Air Conditioner R&D Center so that various tests to determine the optimum control specifications of lubrication oil volume and refrigerant inside the compressor can be made efficiently under the various installation conditions such as height difference between outdoor units and indoor units, length of pipes, indoor and outdoor temperature difference. Herewith, we will develop and commercialize reliable products speedily.

We will significantly strengthen the development power of large-size air conditioners by the construction of Air Conditioner R&D Center and "60m height difference test tower", and along with the small-size air conditioner test facility which was constructed 3 years ago, the industry's top class air conditioner development environment will be in place.

We aim to further expand air conditioner business utilizing above-mentioned facility.

Outline of "60m height difference test tower"

In the test tower, floors will be set up at every 5m for installing test products and on each floor, various types of pipes are equipped to connect outdoor units and indoor units so that diameter and length of pipes can be selected according to the capacity of the test product and purpose of the test. The pipes will be also connected to the adjacent "60HP constant temperature test room" and actual operation test can be made under the various temperature and humidity conditions.

Furthermore, the "constant temperature tank" will be equipped on the 5th floor to make the actual operation test of middle-scale multi air conditioning system.

Main structure Structure (steel-frame), External wall (colored folded-plate/fluorocarbon resin painting), Floor (checkered steel plate), Roof (colored double folded-plate)
Building area 57.15m² (7.56m × 7.56m)
Total floor space 683.1m² (including stair landings)
Maximum height 59.4m
Main facility Elevator (1unit)
Refrigerant pipes for test (11 types 42 pcs. : Possible to connect with 60HP constant temperature test room in Air Conditioner R&D Center)
