Home appliance recycling plant

Fuji Ecocycle Ltd. relocating to Hamamatsu new factory

Starting operation in April, 2010

With the aim to strengthen the disposal capacity of home appliance recycling plant of our subsidiary “Fuji Ecocycle Ltd.” (our investment ratio 55%), we constructed a new factory in the premises of Hamamatsu Business Office (Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture). We will relocate the operation from the old factory (Fujinomiya City, Shizuoka prefecture) and start the operation from April 2.

The amount of investment for the construction of the new factory building is about 1.6 billion yen and the total amount of investment including facility and machinery is about 2.6 billion yen.

The discharge of used consumer electric goods has increased from 8.54 million units in 2001 when the Law for Recycling of Specified Kinds of Home Appliances (hereafter “Home Appliance Recycling Law”) was enforced to 12.90 million units in 2008 (increase by 51%). Also, in April, 2009, LCD and plasma TVs and cloth driers were added to the subject products and in November, 2009, the cumulative total of the discharge of the used consumer electric goods exceeded 100 million units.

Under the circumstances, the expansion of disposal capacity, the upgrading of product recycling rate and the improvement of factory efficiency are being required for the home appliance recycling plant.

Our company established “Fuji Ecocycle Ltd.” in Fujinomiya City, Shizuoka Prefecture in April, 2000 based on the enforcement of the Home Appliance Recycling Law and has been aiming to contribute to the recycling-oriented society by promoting the effective use of materials looking ahead.

The new factory has the disposal capacity of 900,000 units per year (one shift) doubling the capacity of the old factory. Also, we have reinforced the safety measures such as the introduction of facility adopting our original nitrogen replacement system in the refrigerator crushing process and the installation of central surveillance system of the whole facility. We have also realized the simplified flow of products from carrying in to carrying out and improved the efficiency. Furthermore, in the environmental aspect, the reduction of CO2 emission by adopting our multi air conditioning system for buildings for the internal air conditioning of the factory building as well as the greening of 25% of the site area was realized.

In the future, we will strive to make further contribution to the environmentally-friendly recycling-oriented society by promoting more effective use of materials with the home appliance recycling plant equipped with the latest facilities.
