Releasing unitary air conditioner for residential use in the U.S. market to further accelerate the expansion of air conditioner business in North America

Our company will release unitary air conditioner for residential use in the United States from June.

The unitary air conditioner is a central air conditioning system of the duct type which is a mainstream in the United States. We will further accelerate the expansion of air conditioner business in North America by adding the duct type to the lineup of ductless type individual air conditioning models excelling in the comfort and energy saving performance which we have been working on so far.

In the Unites States, a central air conditioning system of the duct type which blows cold and warm air to all rooms through duct tightly stretched from one indoor unit into the building is prevailing. The total demand of the duct type air conditioners is about 7 million units per year and the market is steadily growing with 8% increase in 2016 compared with 2015.

In August last year, we signed a basic agreement with Rheem Manufacturing Company, a U.S. leading air conditioning and water heating products manufacturer to collaborate including future joint development and concluded a mutual products supply agreement as the first step. We have already started supplying our energy-saving air conditioners to Rheem at the end of last year, and from June this year, Rheem will start suppling the duct type unitary air conditioners for residential use to our company.

The collaboration with Rheem is one of the most important measures for achieving the medium-term project of our group, and we aim for further sales expansion by enhancing the synergy effects in collaboration with Rheem in view of cooperation on parts procurement, logistics and joint development of products.
