for export modelis partly different.)
Fujitsu General Limited is pleased to introduce Plasmavision®W
P42HHS10, a new 42-inch type plasma display, incorporating the "AVMplus"
system. This high-quality technology expands our original, AVM (Advanced
Video Movement) full digital video processor system developed exclusively
for PDP. AVMplus debuts at the end of November 2002 both in domestic
and overseas markets for 42-inch PDP. 50-inch and 61-inch models
strengthen the AVMplus plasma display line-up when they're released
in March, 2003
Fujitsu General commercialized the world's first plasma display
and have made continuous improvements in technology and preserved
top market share*1ever since. This record of improvement
and leadership culminated in our receiving "Emmy Award" - the first
such award for plasma display - from the US National Association
of Television Arts and Sciences. The association recognized Fujitsu
General Limited for "Technological development and contribution
in the broadcasting industry."
The new series of displays are the master screen for home use which
provide ideal pictures with renewed concept of high picture quality
for various video sources by incorporating "AVMplus" system in the
multi-selector, inheriting and developing the above mentioned technology.
The "AVMplus" system has dramatically enhanced the expression of
all viewable video images with the adoption of DCDi™ *2
processor, compliance with HDCP *3 and renewal
of video decoder. The new "ALIS" panel(42 inch type), which displays
the Hi-vision signal in high resolution, is adopted to improve the
brightness and color reproduction considerably. In addition to the
"Fine mode" function which is most suitable for viewing a movie,
"Professional setting" function which enables the detailed setting
of such adjustments as "black level" and "color temperature" is
newly provided to correspond to the user's requirement for picture
quality.
The multi-selector, which is equipped with various input/output
terminals, corresponds flexibly to the up-grade of various system
configuration.
The multi-selector and display, being separate type, can be flexibly
installed without deteriorating the picture and sound quality by
the connection of digital image and optical digital sound. Furthermore,
a terrestrial TV-signal tuner is built in and a 110°CS digital
Hi-vision tuner is available as option for broadcasting media.
Also, two 42-inch type models (sister models of this model) in which
the connection with external equipment is arranged at the monitor
side and 50-inch type and 61-inch type models will be released as
new monitor series from the end of November.

- Incorporating DCDi™ processor (Directional Correlation
Deinterlacing)
The optimization of signal processing is realized by adopting
DCDi™ processor which is reputed to be able to reproduce
smooth contour and incorporating only the high picture quality
function suitable for the PDP characteristics of this processor
into the "high definition digital multi-conversion (HDDMC) system".
A distinct picture full of reality can be obtained by combining
with DCDi™ processor which has excellent expression of
contour.

- Complying HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection)
As BS and other High Definition digital broadcasting offerings
grow, there is also growing demand to enjoy fully-digital transmission
of these signals to the display device, without deterioration
of picture quality. Meanwhile, protecting programs from unauthorized
duplication remains a big concern among video content providers.
These providers insist on copy-protection measures be installed
in home theater sources and display devices.
HDCP was established to protect program contents from unauthorized
duplication. With HDCP, source devices send encrypted (un-copyable)
digital signals to display devices. The display devices then decode
the signals and show the pictures. HDCP is now the world standard
of coding digital pictures. In the "AVMplus" system, the DVI (digital
video interface) terminal is designed to comply with the HDCP system
to enable the connection with future digital video equipment by
digital signal |
- Renewal of video decoder circuit
The video decoder circuit which processes analog picture signal
has been renewed. Precision digital processing has considerably
reduced noise and color blurring.
A distinct picture with reduced noise can be obtained in the
terrestrial wave broadcasting, as well as VCR pictures.

A new and improved "Alis" panel(1,024 x 1,024) brings a dramatic
boost in brightness(1000cd/m2). This panel can show digital
Hi-vision broadcasting pictures in high resolution. Color reproduction
has been considerably improved by adopting new fluorescent substance.
Also, 10 bit processing refines the "feel" of screen images faithfully
reproducing the equivalent to 1,024 gray scale.
Furthermore, distinct and dynamic pictures can be reproduced making
use of the panel performance to the maximum level by the "AVM plus"
system.

- "Fine mode" function
| "Fine mode" function (Hyper cinema mode)
controls not only signal processing parameter but also
discharge timing in high resolution by input video level
and enables to control the brightness level to the optimum
without deteriorating excellent gray scale and color reproducibility
unlike conventional cinema mode by our original brightness
control system to lower the brightness without deteriorating
the delivery of gray scale nuances. |

- "Professional setting" function
Various video functions have been incorporated to correspond
to the user's strong requirement for picture quality.
- "Luminance" adjustment function which can set the brightness
of "Fine mode" minutely in 13 steps.
- "Black level" adjustment function which can set only the
brightness of "dark scene" often seen in the movie source
in 31 steps.
- "Color temperature" adjustment function which can set
color temperature in 15 steps at every 500k°.
- "Video memory" function which can store the set adjustment
value for up to 8 patterns.

Various system upgrades can be achieved with the multi-selector's
abundant set of top quality input terminals. No worries about signal
degradation between the multi-selector and the display! Just connect
the two via the digital video and optical digital sound cable. Furthermore,
a terrestrial TV-signal tuner is built in and a 110° CS digital
Hi-vision tuner is available for this type of high-definition broadcast.
- Video input terminal
Upgrade-ability s assured with total 8 input terminals, the
most abundant supply of PDP input terminals in the industry.
Equipped with 3 selectable terminals for Video/S video/D4 terminal,
1 selectable terminal for Video/S video/RGB, 2 terminals for
component, 1 terminal for RGB and 1 terminal for DVI-D (compatible
with HDCP), future system upgrades can be carried out as befits
the main home theater screen.
- Audio input/output terminal
Equipped with 8 terminals corresponding to each video input,
a home theater can be configured smartly by a combination of
high performance 10W + 10W digital amplifier with built-in display
and thin-type high sound quality optional speaker developed
exclusively for plasma display. Also, with 2 optical digital
input terminals and 1 optical digital/analog output terminal,
the audio system-up can be realized freely.
- Optional items
A digital High-vision broadcasting of high picture quality can
be enjoyed by "BS·110° CS digital High-vision tuner
(P-TU1000JS)" which is simultaneously released.

- New development of optical filter for home use
Lustrous red and natural skin tones can be expressed by special
filter pigments which absorb extra emissions of orange color
typical of the neon gasses which are a component of PDP operation.
As a result, the optimum and highest level of color purity can
be realized according to the characteristics of new panel.
- New, dignified design
A master screen for home use with dignified feeling and high
impact through a functional yet simple design. Also, the multi-selector's
compound blue lighting accent takes away the image of equipment
clutter.
